Do over the counter Thyroid supplements work?

I have read that your thyroid level can be in the "normal" range and still be to low for your body. Does anyone know anything about this? I have talked to my doctor, but am not getting anywhere. The lowest level in his reference range is 0.3, mine is 0.4. Could a thyroid supplement help?
I take joint supplements, omega 3, vitamin A B C E and Flaxseed oil, pumplin seed oil and Centrum which contains Iodine and Selenium.
I wonder if they interfere with the Thyroid blood test results?
My age is 56 and as I get older, I notice I have cold, clammy skin and can’t seem to stay warm. In summer, I always have to have the temp at 70 or below with air movement to be comfortable. My body temp. is always at 97 or 97.1 for a normal temp. Would appreciate any input from experience in this area.
I have seen different supplements on the web-as far as supplements–just curious if anyone might know of any that work pretty well. Thank you
My thyroid is considered normal. Its not hypo or anything. My family has a genetically slow metabolism. I am a cross country runner but still struggle with my body storing more fat around my waits than my other teammates. Will T3 help speed up my metabolic rate?
